Once a month I go and see a Dr. that lives in Petionville (ritsy/nice part of Haiti...I know, kinda an oxymoron). Although I don't know what a prenatal appt. in the states is like, I imagine it's a lot like these appts. I get an ultrasound every visit actually and love seeing our little guy on the big screen :)
Every thursday I go and see an awesome group of midwives, which is where I will be delivering. They are fellow missionary friends who have an incredible ministry of helping haitian women (and myself) receive great prenatal care and the peace of a safe delivery.
And every single day I get to see my favorite Dr. of them all. She checks me every morning, usually first thing. She listens to our baby's heartbeat and even checks it with her own ears when she doesn't trust her instruments. The other Dr's are great, but I'm most in love with my Dr. Dalindia :) ....
We can hardly believe that within the next couple of weeks we should be holding our little boy! For all of you that are completely nervous over the fact that we are having him here in Haiti, don't be :) My Dr. is super supportive of my delivering with a midwife, and is staying close by his phone and hospital incase we would need to deliver with him instead for an emergency. We are completely at peace with our decision and most of all glad that it will allow Jared and I to stay together the weeks before and after he's here. And the other benefit of having our baby here is that we will have a lot of family visiting before the end of the year. yay !!
Please pray for a smooth delivery without complications and for the coming weeks to be as stress-free as possible before our little guy makes his appearance!
On a side note, heartline ministries (my wonderful midwives) are actually going to be building a new, bigger maternity center in the near future. Right now, they are in the running for a really helpful grant to help get the new center on its way! Please, take a minute to click here and vote for their ministry. To read more about it, you can head on over to Tara's blog and read this post. They really deserve this grant. The women here work hard everyday and they give the haitian women what every woman deserves at their delivery... knowledgable help who truly fights for them and cares about them.
If this wasn't the truth, I wouldn't be delivering with them. If I didn't feel completely confident in their skills and comfortable with their care....I simply wouldn't be there every week. This ministry is the real deal, they truly care and are great stewards of what God has entrusted them with. And they treat every women in their program the exact same way they treat me. I am not privy to more care or info because I am their friend or a white person living in Haiti. They treateach woman that walks through their door with respect and love. Please, help other women receive the care that I get from them every thursday by voting for them! We've got the easy part, I'm not asking you to give any money to support. Someone is already willing to do that ! All we've got to do is vote !! And please, tell others about this and ask them to do the same :)
I found the Livesays blog not long ago on a link from another site and I recently saw a picture of you in their prenatal class. That is so great that you are going to deliver with them. Their ministry sounds so amazing! Delivering with a midwife is great. I am a big proponent of natural childbirth. I had a midwife with Ian and although I did end up needing a C-Section, because of pre-eclampsia and previous C-Section, the whole experience was so much better and I felt so much at ease with my mid-wife. She also helped me get off to a great start with nursing. Many blessings to you and Jared as you welcome this new little guy! We will be praying for all three of you! Love hearing how things are going, sounds like God is really working in Haiti!
ReplyDeleteJaylene,
ReplyDeleteWe continue to pray that all goes well and it will. How wonderful of you to share with all of us and promote this great cause. An easy way for all of us to help make a little difference in so many lives. Thank you for that! They got my vote. I encourage all who read this to take a few extra moments and vote for Heartline Ministries to help build a better maternity center and to pray that ALL of these women and children will come to know and give their lives to our Lord Jesus Christ. We share in your excitement of the birth and safe delivery of your son. You all continue to be in our prayers.
Congrats!! I pray for safe, awesome delivery in Jesus name :)
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your little one! I also saw your photo in the Livesay's blog as well...so cute. Love to you and Jared!
ReplyDelete(And I voted last week...can you vote more than once???)
I am a regular lurker but I am coming out of "lurkdom" to say I think it's awesome that you are having your baby while under the care of the ladies at Heartline. I've voted with all my votes and made my family members vote all they can and posted it on FB. I'm trying to help!! I told my teenage daughter tonight that if I lived in Haiti it would make me want another baby if I thought I could have prenatal care/ delivery there. Haha! That is how cool I think it is. I am done with babies but I think you are in great hands and I know you have to be having an incredible experience. It's not often that you get to experience the kind of love and prayers that you are getting in prenatal care and will get during delivery. I remember having my 3 vividly and know you will probably never forget this experience with them! Yay for you!
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for you in the upcoming weeks Jalayne! I was so encouraged to read that you'll be having your baby in Haiti. I'll be having mine in Japan and it was a blessing to know I'm not the only one having a baby in another country. :) Praying for safe delivery and wisdom for you and Jared as you become parents! Take care! <3
ReplyDeleteDanielle and Pamela, that is so funny that you saw my picture on Tara's blog already. I guess I'm rather easy to pick out of that pic ! hahah.
ReplyDeleteYou can vote more than once, I think I read somewhere on Tara's blog that it explains how to do it. I'll have to ask her soon and let you know.
Steph...we are so happy for you and Jared ! You look so great in all your pics :) I can only imagine how happy your friends in Japan are that you are staying there for delivery :) God will make everything work out perfectly.
The girls look ADORABLE!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new picture at the top of your blog! So exciting to see the smiles on these faces...yay!
